One Layer Card

Hi There! I wanted to share a One-Layer card design using the Yeti & Penguin from the "Brewed with Love" clear stamp! :)

First, I stamped the image onto card stock. Then, I stamped the same image onto a post-it note to create a mask. I fussy cut the image on the post-it note using a swivel blade cutter.

Next, I used the circle die from the "Stitched in Circle" Die set and created a large circle stencil with regular printer paper.

Step-by-step instructions on creating the circle background:
1) Cover the stamped image on the card stock with the post-it mask, then overlay the circle stencil over the image.
2) Using a foam blender, apply Cracked Pistachio Distress Oxide ink to the center of the image.
3) Using a foam blender, apply Peacock Feather Distress Oxide ink to the upper and lower parts of the circle. Keep applying the colors until desired color saturation.
4) Add/Spray water and quickly dab with a paper towel to get a speckle effect.

Now the fun part! The reveal after removing the stencil and the mask!

I felt the card needed a little bit more so I created a star stencil using printer paper and the little star from the "Mix it Up" die set. Placed the stencil where I'd like to have a star and used a foam blender to apply some Peacock Feather Distress Oxide ink.

I colored the Yeti and the Penguin in with colored pencils and added some Key-Lime Nuvo Jewel drops and there you have it!

Partial Die Cutting

Hello I wanted to show you this fun window card that I made using the partial die-cutting technique!

First I cut out a piece of patterned cardstock to 5.5" x 4.25". With a pencil I drew lines on the top and sides of the cardstock as a guide for the windows. The lines are approximately .5" from the edge of the paper.

Next I cut the top two windows using the rectangle from the "Pocket Pieces Hi" die set aligning the die with the guide lines I drew, making sure the short side of the rectangle is on the top.

I cut the third window using the partial die-cut technique. Because I want to use the "Hi" sentiment die on the bottom of the window, I'm aligning my cutting plates so that it doesn't cut the bottom of the rectangle. There's several ways to do this, but I like to stack my top plate with where I want the pressure for the die to cut as shown in the picture below:

I run them all through my die-cutter and voila! A partially cut rectangle! Exciting right? ;)

I use the partial die-cutting technique for this next step as well. I align the "Hi" die bottom slightly below the rectangle's bottom. Again, I align the cutting plates to avoid pressure on the bottom of the die, so that it won't cut the bottom of the sentiment and run it through my die-cutter.

Then I use a ruler and a craft knife to cut out the bottom of the rectangle, leaving the "Hi" sentiment in tact and then I erased all the guide lines.

Next, I used the scallop die from the Outdoor Landscape 2 die set to add a scalloped trim to the bottom of the cardstock.

For the card base, I blended some distress ink to add some color to the windows.

I stamped and fussy cut the adorable unicorns from "Sparkle" stamp set and colored them with alcohol markers. Then I used a tape runner and adhered everything onto the card base. There you have it! A window card using the Partial Die-cutting technique!

May the 4th be with you!

Hello Crafty Friends! May the 4th be with you! :D Get ready to geek out with Craftin Desert Divas' Troll Wars Clear stamps! I did a planner layout in my mini happy planner using the new Troll Wars stamp set and the new Outer Space stencil!

First I created a galaxy background in a few select spaces in the planner by masking out the boxes I didn't want the background in. I used sticky-notes to do this.

Using a foam blender, I start adding some Distress Oxide Inks. I used Peacock Feathers, Picked Raspberry, and Wilted Violet. Then I added the dark Distress Oxides in Black Soot, and Faded Jeans. Then it's the fun part! The reveal after removing the mask!

Next I mask off the sections that I just created the galaxy background, then I overlaid the Outer Space Stencil and secured it with some washi tape. After, I used a foam blender to add Wilted Violet and Faded Jeans Oxide Inks to stencil in the space background.

Then I added some water and quickly dabbed it with a paper towel. I stamped and colored the Troll Wars images onto sticker paper and added them to my planner pages. I also added some glitter washi to cover any days of the week that was visible. Lastly, I added some stars using a gel pen and wrote in days of the week. I wrote in the months on the top of the planner page!

I hope you like this mini-release as much as I do! :)

Fixing Oops with Flag Banner Dies!

Hello Crafty friends! I'm sharing a few ideas on how you can save your crafting projects from little mistakes! Here's the final product:

I was almost done with making my card using the cloudy sky stencil, inside scalloped rectangle frame die, and the cute hot air bunny balloon from the Up, Up, & Away Stamp set, only to sloppily stamp the sentiment! EEEK! Actually now that I think about it, it's not really the sentiment that I want anymore too. What do I do????

Alas, the CDD's Flag Banner die set has a bunch of different banners in different sizes! I selected a banner that was tall enough to cover the sentiment that was stamped directly onto the card! I also decided to use the "Celebrate" sentiment is from the Balloon Parade stamp set!

I decided to use the "Up up and away, a little one is on the way" sentiment for inside the stamp and I carelessly stamped it upside down! EEk!

I used another banner die from the same Flag Banner die set only this time I used some thin printed paper and re-stamped the sentiment onto the banner.

There you have it! You can't even tell that there were mistakes! :P
