Stenciling Fun in Planners -Beach themed layout

Happy Friday crafty friends! I created a beach themed planner layout in my A5 planner! I love using stencils in my planner to add fun decorative background without adding bulk to the planner. La-La Land Crafts have tons of fun stencils, and always comes in coordinated sets of 2!

I love how so many of the La-La Land Crafts dies can be used for functional components of my planner layout! ;) The cloud works so perfectly for the days of the week, and I will use the postage stamps to write in the highlights of the day! :) 

Stenciling tips:

Build the colors

If you're new to stenciling using distress inks and a blending tool just remember that you have to keep building the color. There's going to be an initial phase where it doesn't look good, but once you keep blending and building the colors, it'll look good in the end! 

Prep the paper

Paper does matter when using distress inks, most crafters like using Bristol paper when blending/stenciling in backgrounds however with planning you likely don't have a choice in paper (unless you print your own inserts, even then bristol is too thick for using it as a planner insert in my opinion). Because of the chalky finish of Distress Oxide inks, the inks almost prep the paper to allow for better blending of the inks! So go ahead and use your light distress oxide inks first, give it a moment to dry then use start blending the colors. 

Shadowing/Ghosting

I haven't had any problems with shadowing with standard planner paper even when I use black distress oxide ink. However if you use a planner with super thin planner paper, like a hobonichi/tomoe river paper, then shadowing is inevitable. 

For writing space 

• Stencil first, then write/stamp, especially if you're using distress oxide/pigment inks, since pigment inks sits on the paper surface if you stencil over your image/writing it'll dull your image/writing.
• Keep the colors light if you want to write over the stenciled area.
• If you want to stencil in dark colors, write with a white gel pen! The effect will look so nice!

Outdoor Pool Party Penguin Card

Happy Friday everyone! Today's card theme is "Outdoors"! I chose poolside as my outdoor as that is my kind of outdoor activity!

This is my first attempt at drawing pool water! I'm pretty happy with the results! Even though my card is summer themed, the Spring has Sprung paper pack had some nice blue-greens that went really nicely with the water that I had drew in.

My next project are some large gift tags! The monkeys are up to no good in these super fun gift tags. The Mandala Doily die is so amazingly gorgeous and is the perfect accent to the tag! I used distress oxide inks for the backgrounds. For the green tag, I used Broken China and Tumbled Glass, for the coral tag, I used Abandoned Coral, Worn Lipstick, and Spiced Marmalade.

My next project is a slimline card. These little piggies are making waves in this card. I used the postage stamp die and partial die cutting to make the die cut long enough for a slimline card. The panel ended up a little bit short, so I used one of the smaller postage stamp dies and a sentiment to fill the space. I love how it turned out! Sometimes my best ideas comes from having to fix a mistake or when I have to consolidate for something else!

My first project is a monthly planner page in my A5 planner. I've got Reading on the Beach Marci laying down on the bottom corner of my planner page soaking up the sun while the piggies are making sand castles, sipping lemonade, and getting ready to snorkel! 

I used a lot of the La-La Land Crafts stencils to make really fun backgrounds on these pages! For the ripples I used distress oxide inks, first using Tumbled Glass, then Cracked Pistachio, and then Salty Ocean. I'm sooo in love with the way the waves looks!

My next card is a slimline card! I've been addicted to these cards and love how you can put more stamped images and die cuts in because of the extra room! Isn't this a fun scene of piggies at the beach? My first project is a monthly planner layout in my A6 ring planner, using the Farmer Marci Rubber Stamp and the Truck Die. The layout is really more Truck themed. My husband has been watching a lot of Truck Modification shows and it gave me the inspo. to do this layout. I love the theme of the kit, but it's always awesome to be able to use it in other ways! I made a really cute Felt Truck Planner charm that can be clasp onto the elastic!

I wanted a nice subtle background so I used the Water Ripples Layering Stencil, I die cut the cheese using yellow cardstock and then used copic markers to add some shading details. Lastly I used the pizza toppings as a day of the week and date divider! Isn't this such a fun layout?

My next project is a fun Pepperoni Lover card! I used the Heart stencil from the Hearts & Harlequins Layering Stencil set. First I used the Squeezed Lemonade distress Ink onto white card stock, then I used worn lipstick to stencil in the heart. Then I used colored pencils to shade in the hearts and add little dots to make it look like pepperoni hearts! :P

New Stuff from Inkon3 - Fox & Bunnies!

Inkon3 sneaked in some new products and they're pretty awesome! I'll show you how I used the adorable new Fox and Bunny stamps, and the new Leafy Forest Stencil in my planner!

  
First I masked around the rectangle on the bottom of my planner pages and applied Atelier Ink Bee Sting Yellow with a blending tool. Leaving the mask on, overlay the Leafy Forest Stencil over the yellow rectangle and stencil in the leaf pattern using the Atelier Ink Marigold Orange.

On the left page of my planner, I masked around the left-most rectangle, and applied the Marigold Orange Atelier Ink with a blending tool. Then I stamped the month onto the orange background.



Next, I stamped the large image from the Fox & Bunny Hugs Clear stamp set, and the small Fox & Bunny from the Forever Friends Clear Stamp set onto sticker paper. I fussy cut the images and then colored it in with copic markers. Then I adhered the stamps as shown in the pictures above.



Lastly, I used the leaf silhouette stamp and then three dots from the Forever Friends Clear Stamp set to add some accents around the little Fox curled up with the bunny.

Do you love making your craft supplies stretch? I do! I love using my card making supplies in my planners! Here's a planner layout using the "Here's the Scoop" Unicorns. I stenciled in the background by stacking both stencils in the Funky Squares Layering Stencils to make it look like a waffle cone. I used one of the stencils from the Snowy Hills Layering Stencil to make "sprinkles".

My next project is a card using the Unicorns from the "Whats the Scoop" stamp set. Doesn't it look like an Ice-Cream heaven?  I had so much fun making fluffy clouds with sprinkles on them. Since the sprinkles die cuts were so small, I put a small amount of glue on a sheet of scrap paper, and dipped the uncolored side of the paper into the glue. Having a pick up tool was very handy in handling the sprinkles.

This month's theme is SCREAM worthy...ICE-CREAM that is! :P  As always there's a Marci rubber stamp set, and the critters this month are UNICORNS! AHHHHH!

My first project is a weekly planner layout using the Unicorns from the "What's the Scoop" stamp set. Aren't they adorable? Stencils are a creative planner girl's best friend because you can add a lot of cool design elements without adding bulk to your planner. I stenciled in the clouds using La-La Land Craft's "Summer is Here" layering stencils. I cut out the Ice Cream using the "Ice Cream" dies that comes with this month's kit onto sticker paper and colored them in using copic markers. Then I finished it off with some rainbow planner stickers and washi tape!

My second project is a card using the "Marci with Ice Cream" stamp. I tried to mimic an ice-cream parlor's awning by using a striped patterned paper from the "Love you More" paper pack, and the "Scalloped Rectangles Die". The pink heart patterned paper is also from the "Love you More" paper pack! The "You are Sweet" was die cut using some paper from the "Blue Christmas" designer paper pack! Isn't it awesome how so many of La-La Land Craft's paper packs coordinate with each other?

I'll admit that coloring this Marci's hair seemed overwhelming at first, but just keep adding the the layers of coloring and it will look fantastic!

This month's theme is the Bee's Knees! My nickname when I was a little girl was Bumble-Bee so this kit is so very near and dear to my heart!

My first project is a card using Bee Happy Marci, the Beehive die, and the Double Stitched Hexagons die! Isn't she just adorable!!!!! I used the new Happy Heart Background stamp to make the patterned paper. I absolutely love La-La Land Craft's background stamps. I get a perfectly matched patterned paper for everyone one of my projects!

La-La Land Crafts has done it again with another dreamy paper pack! I made these adorable tags using the Love You More Paper pack! What I really like about the paper packs is that it's double sided, and the two sides typically match in color theme.
